The UM Concert Band Concert was last night...*sigh*  The most horrifying performance of my life...I could not find the partials (playing French Horn - you have to be able to hear the note in you head before you play it) for over HALF of the concert, I could not believe it!  I usually hit my partials (not all the high partials, but most of the rest of them)...I felt so bad (for the band), frustrated (for me), and humiliated (for both)...in the end, everbody else did  an outstanding job and the band received a standing ovation...but I wish I could have contributed more...

Partial = the proper mouth position and air flow necessary to create the desired pitch (usually used when referring to Brass Instruments)

I was pleasantly surprised tonight during Concert Band as the Duple pairing in a Compound meter practice we did in class helped me recognize the proper timing in a specific piece we are practicing for our concert.

Thank you Dr. James!
